Test Your Brain

I've gotten more interested in brain science these days. Maybe because I'm getting older and notice that my memory is getting worse..and worse..and worse. And having ADHD only accentuates the loss even more.

I found a neat website where you can test various brain functions- working memory, differentiating spoken words from background noises, and more. They even offer a computer program to improve your cognitive functioning.

Try the tests HERE and see what you think. But don't despair; my guess is that many with ADHD will have problems with these. I really struggled on some of these tests.

I watched a program on ETV this week about brain plasticity and how, despite what we have all thought until now, brain plasticity does not disappear with age! However, the program did make the point that we need to work at training our brains and keeping them flexible. Anyway, I thought it was facinating and very encouraging for all of us as we age. I work at a counseling center with a counselor who has many elderly clients and she has been looking into the research on brain training as a possible treatment option for dementia. I will definitely point her towards the website you mention.

I tried out the tests on the website, I probably should have chosen a better time....don't know why I thought 10:50pm after a full day of work and an evening of writing assessments, would be a good time..
