What I’ve Been Reading
My pal and colleague, Elaine Taylor-Klaus, just published a fabulous book, The Essential Guide to Raising Complex Kids with ADHD, Anxiety, and More: What Parents and Teachers Really Need to Know to Empower Complicated Kids with Confidence and Calm
I just dug into this gem and am super excited to have this resource I can recommend to those who live with, love, or work with kids who have ADHD, or pretty much any other special challenges. She takes a coaching perspective and a pragmatic approach with specific scenarios that I’m sure will help you help your child (and you!).
What I’ve Been Up To
Mashable interviewed and quoted me extensively for an excellent article they published recently:
Everything you Thought you Knew about ADHD is Wrong

Product to Check Out
Sometimes the simplest things can solve the biggest problems. If you’re sick and tired of re-washing dishes in the dishwasher because you can’t remember if they’re dirty or clean, get one of these- I did- and I love it!
A simple Clean/Dirty Magnet.
Doesn’t get much easier than that!
Are You Eating Like CRaP, Too? Pandemic Anxiety and Eating
I cannot believe that at this very moment, in my kitchen, are the following items I normally do NOT buy: Ho Ho’s, Hershey’s Chocolate Kisses, Milano Double Chocolate (dark) Cookies. I lied- I do buy Milanos, normally. But just ONE bag at a time, not two-three!
This pandemic has caused us to find comfort in our homes and self-soothing activities to keep us calm and sane. For me, that’s chocolate. Now, I can’t beat myself up over this and neither should you.
I realize that this is a temporary glitch in my eating routine, so take my advice and be kind to yourself when you find your sticky fingers swooping into that bag of
M & Ms or whatever your (hopefully fairly benign) go-to for comfort is.
In the meantime, maybe this article I wrote pre-pandemic will help:
